The system for Halter shows has now been developed and tested. I believe it to be fair to the horses and flexible for the judges.
If you wish to hold a show, contact Sue M.
The basic system:
|
Layout |
DQ to 5 |
|
Horse turnout |
DQ to 5 |
|
Handler turnout |
DQ to 5 |
|
Breeder's notes |
0 to 5 |
|
Trainer's notes/presentation |
DQ to 5 |
|
Show record |
0 to 5 |
|
Total Halter score |
55 to 100 |
|
Charisma |
11 to 20 |
|
misc score (example: BT) |
11 to 20 |
|
Luck |
0 to 5 |
DQ means disqualification. Certain things are REQUIRED. Both in the layout of the card (such as owner, name, registration #, etc.) and in the way the horse looks and is presented. Inappropriate tack, clothing, age, gender, etc. could all be reasons to be disqualified. Be as familiar as you can (may be harder for some than for others) with the rules for each class and breed of horse.
5 is simply a suggested number...it could be higher or lower. It is strongly suggested that the Luck score not go over 8 or 10 (lower is fine) since the backbone of the system should be on the scores that represent the horse.
The misc score can be anything that the judge finds particularly important...it could be breed type, conformation, or could actually be nothing at all. It simply needs to be consistent for the *class*.
Points allotted for previous shows is also largely up to the judge how much they will award for what placings, or even detract from the score if a horse is having a particularly bad streak and there is no attempt in the trainer's notes to remedy. RULES/SUGGESTIONS ABOUT SHOW POINTS MAY BE ADJUSTED! We are just starting out, so we may decide there might be a more standard way to figure points for shows that might be better. Stay tuned to the list for discussion and updates, if any.
If you have any questions, please contact Sue or ask the list!
Next to be developed is the Performance system, and any refinements of the Halter system that may be needed.
